Ten Essentials to Raising a Healthy Business :

1. Conceive your business. The desire, thoughts and organization necessary to create the business and its identity is the first step in becoming the proud parent of one. For now, educate yourself on what it takes financially, mentally and emotionally. How is it going to change your life and what changes do you need to make in preparation for it? Begin doing some market research as well as recognizing your competitors (if any exist). You can always decide on and finalize the business name nearer to its birth.
 

2. Plan for its birth. The birth of your business occurs at some point after its initial inception and much careful planning. At this phase, you may consider tapping a supportive business partner (or team) to share in the responsibilities, commitments, joys, sweat and tears. Begin preparing a comfortable and proper domain or space for the business. For example, does its geographic location matter? If it’s web-based, what type of programming and servers will host the business?
 

3. Love it unconditionally. Care for it. Believe in it. Be grateful for it. Be proud of it. Share it with others. Be intimate with it. Be patient and one with it! Most importantly, make sure you are taking care of yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually so you can be fit for the beautifully trying journey ahead.
 

4. Nourish it. There are 3 ways to go about obtaining the proper nourishment for your business: a)Plant it – this will take the longest but can bear the most fruit in the long run, i.e. blogging and marketing. B)Purchase it –As the fastest route to growth, examples may include purchasing email mail-out lists and purchasing advertising. C)Barter/Trade for it – To be able to get some nourishment out of this one, you must find other businesses looking to accomplish a goal or two in common with you. Examples may include interviews, link exchanges and cross-marketing.
 

5. Give it attention. Give your business the attention it deserves and make sure you’re simply having fun with it at every stage in the journey. The more attention you give to the business the better it will grow to make people happy. The less attention it gets, the greater the chances it will grow away from your customers.
 

6. Communicate openly with it. As you improve at reading and listening to its feedback cues and distress signals, you will come to understand your business with a greater aptitude. From there, you can feed it, change it or give it more attention as necessary.
