Aristotle: Excellence Quote
To enjoy the things we ought and to hate the things we ought has the greatest bearing on excellence of character.
On April 19 in 1982, Sally K. Ride, Ph.D., was chosen by NASA to be the first American woman in space. In 1983 and '84,
she flew on two Challenger missions as flight engineer and mission specialist. When asked if she would fly again, she said: "I think I'm going to wait 'til I'm 75, and then I'm going to call NASA and say, 'I want to go to Mars.'" Long an advocate for improved science education, Dr. Ride has written five science books for children.
The Virtue of Reliability is having control over and accountability for appropriate events. Can be trusted do something. Having confidence in others or yourself; lacking suspicion with responsibility. Reliability means that others can depend on you. You keep your commitments and give your best to every job. You are responsible. You don’t forget, and you don’t need to be reminded. Other people can relax knowing things are in your reliable hands. Reliability is the ability to respond ably and to make smart choices. Being responsible means others can trust you to do things with excellence or better. You accept accountability for your actions. When you make a mistake, you offer amends instead of excuses.
